We appreciate your gift of U2 to the world
We expect however that not all Irish are as full of themselves as Bono. It would make for a difficult country. |

poor old bono, once legend now a weeee bit of an embarasment needs to stick to the music tho, plus weve given the world more than that....aran woolie jumpers, traditional 'diddle-e-i' music, snow patrol(half of em i think) potatoes, priests loads and loads of priests, the titanic (however brief), we populated america and australia wen no one else would do it, again goin back to the irish ancestory debate. sadly we didnt give the world st.patricks day, wel not in its current form any way i think it was in chicago they first had a parade,, ooh we gave hollywood botox!! |

Oh good, HLJ and Merc said something before me!
I said something similar on the Canada thread. Said with absolutely the best intentions - and no malice meant. Bruce, the New World grew the potato, but it took the British Isles to really bring it out of its skin... er, shell. If it weren't for us. people would still be trying to smoke it ![]()

I'm also Irish on both sides, and you may have had a point a few years ago, but in the last 5-6 years the economy in Ireland has taken off. They have a lot of high tech jobs. A lot of call center stuff from America goes there. They're working, or at the pub for the most part. It used to be that half of Ireland was on the dole and the other half was working to pay for it.

I'm no Dan Quayle but the word "Potatoes" has a letter E. Plural has a letter E, singular does not.
