Fantasy
This thread is to guide those in winning a sports fantasy league.
NHL, MLB, NFL, NBA. You're talking to a guy with 44 trophies, 25 of them Gold, including 3 winner leagues. Baseball would be the easiest to win, as there are methods of drafting that would give you the upper hand as most don't know certain secrets. Secrets which i will reveal to you in this thread. There is more to winning a fantasy league than just the secrets of drafting. Free agents, streaming pitchers without hurting era or whip. Trading is key in fantasy Math becomes an important factor late in the season, i will go into further detail in a later post. I'm gonna start on baseball, as people will be drafting all the way till mid-season. Priorities must be kept. These priorities change each season based on the availability of players in certain positions. the 1st, 2nd, 6th, 8th and 10th rounds should be used for bats. rounds 1 and 2 must involve a 3rd baseman, and either a short stop or 2nd base-man. at short stop, you're looking at reyes or h.ramirez in the first round, or should you miss them, furcal would be a bargain in the 6th. 3rd base is either wright, or longoria... not much else down the line. should the draft not go as you expected early on, chase utley at 2nd base would be a sure thing in the 2nd round, otherwise, phillips soon after, roberts or even in a much later round, speedy figgins. by the 10th round, you must cover 2nd base, 3rd base, short stop and catcher along with 1 outfielder or 1st baseman as they can wait as there are elite players available later in the drafts. catchers to be after are martinez, martin or even the injured mauer. you could even own 2 catchers as martinez and martin also cover 1st/3rd, and that would also hurt your competition in a position that elite is rare. navaro could be used as a great number 2 in a really late round. i actually own martinez, martin and navaro in one league. votto was avaiblable in round 13-14 for me, so 1st base can wait. outfielders are plentyfull, and can be covered in later rounds, you should not have more than 1 at the 12th round mark. The two major mistakes people make in drafting are based on pitching. 3rd, 4th, 5th, 7th and 9th round picks should be spent on closers. no starting pitcher should be drafted before the 12th round. closers are the most important thing in the draft as they provide more power than what meets the eye. drafting 5, or even 6 elite closers, provide no competition in the saves category. closers also own the greatest strike-out per inning ratio. the elite closers will also provide a low based era and whip which gives you the oppourtunity to stream starters without hurting those stats much. you should own 2-3 starters you drafted in the later rounds 12-18. the rest of your innings should be covered by free agents. what you're looking for are elite free agent starters who are up against weak line-ups in pitcher friendly parks. you should own at least 2 of these 3 closers f.rodriguez nathan papelbon the other 2-4 slots can be covered by drafting some of the following closers. f.cordero soria lidge rivera valverde broxton francisco bell drafting closers early makes others follow in your footsteps, only you taking the first steps, gives you the first picks on them. if you win closer the war in the draft, and you follow the rest of my advice, you win the league.

i don't mean to take anything away from that success, its just i'm refering to like a yahoo fantasy style league, where its a competitive live draft where you actually control who you get in every round.
i've never participated in a pre-rank draft before the cellar one. i think our next draft should be moved over to yahoo.

you can never get the participants online at the same time. would never work...someone would forget and get screwed...or lose power, or life would happen.

we would have to do our own league, and draft slowly in a thread.
i wonder if you could then fill in a league's teams on one of those sites that does the stats. eta: is there any time limit on the live drafts?

90 seconds per pick for someone that is online
the average draft lasts just over an hour

How can this be called a sports fantasy when there's no mention of whipped cream, sling chairs and handcuffs?
