Kindle, really? I'm anti-Kindle. Granted, I've never used one. But I'm a book junkie. Nothing could be better than a well-loved, dog-eared paperback book. I even sniff my books.

I suppose that using Kindle in place of heavy, expensive textbooks is an idea I can get behind. But that's it.

Mr. Clean Magic Eraser: crayon scribbles off the surface of an LCD TV...
--Gently! I read they are made of something like fiberglass, formed into a micro-fine "sandpaper"

I read something about them being harmful in some way. I chose to ignore this information and continue erasing in blissful ignorance.

I am pretty much with you on this. They do the thing I want them to do. Invisible damage is better than visible, something.

I think the textbook thing will be huge. I'm a paper guy as well. The kids, however, can have dozens of books at their fingertips wherever they are. They just spent a week with their Gramma in the mountains and were never without reading material. The "classics" are cheaper than Chinese peasants so between crappy young teen vampire novels they can knock down some Jack London. I was resistant but...

If it gets them to read, it can't be all bad.
