chicago bears[-9.5] vs detroit lions

the chicago bears, has had the greatest defence in the nfl for many years now.
in the past years, their attack has been under par, leaving the defence too much work to do, which resulted in the defence's numbers not reflecting reality.
their attack this season includes qb cutler, who will come into stride with wr hester, who's speed is of the absolute elite, many questioned his hands, however, he's been working on it, and now is a true big play number 1 reciever.
cutler will also, in time, get to know the value of rb forte, who's hands may be better than philadelphia's rb westbrook.
ullracher is out for this season, downgrading their linebacker situation, but make no mistake, this bears defence is the elite.
the lions are building a very good team, but imho, they'll need to draft 1-2 years to fill up some holes in the team
the spread is big, but are so are the differences between these two teams.

new england patriots[-1.5] vs baltimore ravens

it does not take an expert, all you have to do is watch.
if you've watched, then you know that this patriots defence, is about as weak as a defence can be.
i underestimated this ravens attack at the start of the season.
the ravens will not have trouble scoring in this game.
the patriots attack is not quite what it used to be.
it will be seriously tested against this elite ravens defence.
i will be suprised if the superior team does not win this game.

la angels = 1.44

la dodgers = 2.37

eastern conference

atlantic

this division is without doubt, the best in the east.
i know that i projected the penguins to dominate from 2008 through to 2010, but i think a few other teams have caught up to them.
chris pronger joins the flyers, putting them immediatly into contention.
gaborik joins the rangers, upgrading their attack, putting them into contention.
its hard to say which team will be at the bottom of the standings between the devils and islanders.

northeast

the boston bruins remain contenders, and should be on top of this division.
the rest of the teams here are well behind boston, and yet not too far from each other.
ottawa and montreal seem to be a tad superior to the building leafs and the fallen sabres.

southeast

washington may not win this division as easy as some expect.
tampa bay picked up gold in hedman at the draft, and will dominate this division for years to come because of it.
we'll see how fast that will take effect... i would not be suprised if they started showing halfway through this season.
atlanta, florida and carolina seem to be a little further back, and should be below the playoff line.

western conference

central

i will be suprised if detroit manages to be in the top 3 of this division at the end of the season.
chicago, st.louis and columbus are very good teams, and should all make the play-offs.
nashville is out of luck.

northwest

this division has become quite weak.
calgary holds some good players, but you can't really consider them as some of their lines remain under par.
minnesota is a well run team and should be ahead of some of the teams here.
edmonton and colorado are well under par and will be below .500.
vancouver is the perfect example of how not to run a team.
easily the worst franchise in hockey.
a bunch of overaged, overpaid men playing in front of a mediocre goalie.

pacific

the san jose sharks are in a class of their own here, and should have no competition at winning this division.
the anaheim ducks, despite holding some serious youngsters, are probably drafting.
la, phoinex and dallas are all still below par, and should not be considered contenders to represent the west.
