I can't tell if I'm being made fun of, so I'll take daves post as a compliment. Healthcare, maybe. cheaper drugs up there anyway, and the drug I'm most interested in is almost legal up there. So I'm goin, that's all there is to it!

It was sarcasm, because I read "If he 'wins' again I'm moving to Canada" as "I'm a big puss."
See, what you're doing is running from the problem. The country was founded on principles that you probably "believe" in - freedom, responsibility of government to the people, etc. So when you get the feeling things aren't looking up, you jump ship. The country doesn't need babies like you. It needs strong people like Thomas Jefferson and George Washington who are willing to stand up when they think something is wrong and do something about it. So yes, you'll be missed, in the same sense that I'll be sad when this fucking ringworm on my foot clears up. |

Yeah...don't pull a Robert Altman...or even worse, an Alec Baldwin.
Besides, Canadians don't seem to care much for Americans these days...better work on those pronunciations. |

re: dave
well, thanks for the reply dave. as to the actual content of your post, yes, maybe it's jumping ship, and maybe the country does need a jefferson or a washington. But I've voted, I've sent e-mails, I've called my representatives and senators, I've organized rallys. And nothings changed. So I guess that, should this ridiculous clown of a non-president get "elected" again, I can go on calling and waving signs and e-mailing. But I'm sick of it. I'm sick of the soundbyte politics coming from the only two sides that anyone recognizes, I'm sick of people thinking I'm a crackpot for professing the same ideals that founded this country. You think Jefferson and Washington never walked away! the hell they didn't! Jefferson spent the revolution in France. Where was the greatness then? And as to the general tone of the post: go to hell

Rho and I just spent a half-hour debating greenian's comments...sheesh!
Greenian can leave America if he/she pleases. But change never comes easy in this country, and a lot of what we're fighting for now may not come to fruition until we're dead and gone. The threat of leaving for another country just sounds like a cop-out to me though, b/c there is still so much worth fighting for. |

Yeah, but they've been salivating at the chance to enact that agenda for years. As I see it, 9/11 was the catalyst that spurred them into real action.

thank you lady sycamore. And I'm pretty sure it was an idle whimsy, I doubt I'd move. But man, Bush is an idiot! And his handlers (ala Cheney, Wolfowitz, and the rest) are some of the scariest bunch of lunatics ever to get into the white house. *side note* Condoleeza Rice had a Chevron oil tanker named after her before Bush got "elected" They changed it after they realized what a conflict of interest that might sound like.* I'm starting to think that the American people are just too shocked by the wackiness of the whole neo-con agenda to stand up and do anything. Voting is all we can do. So VOTE!!!!!!!!!

One troubling thing, to me anyway, my Democrat friends keep using the phrase "take back the government". The unmistakable implication is that it's full speed ahead with their version of the statist agenda no matter how close the election is. I have been toying with voting Dem this time around but I think I'll probably stick with the pointless protest vote.
I've been talking with a decent bright young Christian conservative about what he faces in his education classes. Needless to say diversity doesn't include him. In one class, his first assignment was an essay which was designed to reveal the religious and political backgrounds of all the students. He chose to be honest, so now when the prof and fellow students go on and on about how stupid Christans are during every class, he knows they mean him. We talk pretty frankly about politics and this guy will be a good civics teacher once he survives this. He understands tolerance, he was a minority white in an inner city school district. Sometimes I forget how intollerant the left can be when they have the power.

*EDIT* The editorial staff of Hubris Communications GmbH failed to notice the qualifier "some of" in greenian's original post. This oversight could, from some points of view, make it appear as though greenian was being chided for expressing a subjective opinion, instead of an unsupportable objective assertion. The editors responsible for this error have been taken out and shot. The management of Hubris Communications GmbH and its parent company, Internationale Gesellschaft Farbenindustrie AG, regret any inconvenience this may have caused.
