How clean do you keep your cat?
I have one with the self-cleaning option, but sometimes I forget to change her litter. That's actually generally my cue: "oh, you smell really poopy today. I guess I should do something about that."

It's hard to stay on top of, what with the treadmarks and all.

Ticks me off, but I'm always the one cleaning the litter.
All my cats are clean except for an Ancient One, who is 19 and pees where she isn't supposed to and is all matted and greasy. And no, I still haven't put her down yet. It's hard to do it when she seems so healthy except for those two things. |

Seriously. Get her properly groomed and see if anything changes (and even if she still pees where she's not supposed to, at least she'll be a much happier kitty). |

I have only occasionally had to worry about the Diz-cat's bot. And when I do, I wipe it with warm wet tissue, hoping to fool him into thinking I am his Mama, grooming him. He knows it is an indignity however, and yelps.
The best time was when he had a klingon I had to tug out. He wailed in surprise, and I had a proper nugget to take to the toilet - which was a surprise to me too. Still, saved him dragging his butt over my pillow to dislodge it. I clean his eyes every day. He gets eye bogies. He resists, but he comes for me to do it every morning. I do the same for the 'rents' cat, Mia. Except she has sunken ginger eyes and needs to be done a couple of times a day. And I clean his ears as and when he needs them. Diz & Dylan used to groom eachother, and Dyl in particular loved to clean Diz's ears. So partly out of guilt and partly out of necessity, I have a set-up where I dip cotton buds in warm water, then make kissy noises close to his ear so he thinks it's my tongue. Well, he struggles otherwise, and that's dangerous. Please note I only clean the inside skin and never go deep inside. I do know this is a clone BTW. But I have more to say about cats than cars

My feline is really a frustrated lion and behaves accordingly...his main problem is that he picks up 10 million burrs and grass seeds and if he's not brushed regularly these turn into dreadlocks that have to be cut out and none of us enjoy this. He also tracks them into the house.

My current cat is a kitten. So smaller poops mean I only need to clean up her litter facilities every 2 or 3 days. Reminds me, I should clean it now.
My previous cat was a gorgeous orange long hair. It was a fight to brush him, but brush him I did. And cut out mats. He also got bathed with those catwipes from time to time. The kitten has short silky hair which seems to need no upkeep. Hoping she stays that way. Say, was it on this board that I heard the joke about how to clean a cat? |

About as clean as we keep our kids.

OK. Here's how to have a spotless clean kitty with a minimum of fuss. Open back door. Flush toilet bowl a few times and then add a generous dollop of pet shampoo. Throw cat in toilet and jump on closed lid. Allow cat to agitate itself for a few minutes. Then hit flush a few more times. Jump off toilet lid and let cat out. Watch sopping wet cat head straight out the backdoor. Cat will air dry to a lusterous shine after about 30 minutes in the fresh air.
(My apologies if this has been told elsewhere before.) |

I vacuum my cat regularly - as soon as I have recovered from the last vacuuming.

Just put it in the dishwasher, saves time and scratches.
