I finally tried a wii!

J and J have one and whilst I was over at their house just before new years we had great fun with it. J(m) bought J(f) a Wii -fit addon for Christmas. I love it! May even get myself one at some point.

We spent the last hour or so of New Year's Eve playing bowling, tennis and golf...it was so much fun that we lost track of time and only did a cursory 'it's midnight-Happy New Year' before going back to the game at hand. Bowling I've definitely got the hang of. Tennis, I still suck at. We had two different styles of golfers...one who pretended she was on the green and shuffled forward to get closer to the ball when teeing off (and still wasn't always able to hit the ball on the first go) and the other who sat on the couch and effortlessly moved the control around to hit the ball. When they got to the 9th hole (I think it was), neither of them could hit the ball across the watercourses from the teeing off island to the furthest away island, so they had to island hop. I've heard that there's a foolproof technique for golf depending on whether you're teeing off, putting or whatever there is in between, but have yet to witness it...will post as soon as I'm given that piece of information again and can commit it to memory.

There is a wii here. I've been thinking of the wii fit.
Is the tennis and the bowling a part of the wii fit line up?

No I guess that would be sports huh? I wonder if wii fit isn't ridiculous?

I think it's pretty groovy. Has yoga stuff and balance exercises. Also ski jump is mega fun.

It has a function that measures your weight and BMI and you can set youself targets. It also works out your centre of gravity and that shows if you have good posture (I dont!).

some wii fit is ridiculous, and some gives you an actual workout.

Hmmm, I did the Wii fit weight measurement thing and I came up as on the borderline of being obese. (Another contributor to the Cellar could testify that this is not the case). Also, given the fact that I do a fair amount of exercise, it seemed somewhat inaccurate. I also did hear (but could not confirm that this is true firsthand) that the whole New Zealand rugby team comes up as morbidly obese on the Wii Fit measurement scale, so I'd be somewhat sceptical about it, but am keen to read what other people have to say.

It told me I needed to add a few pounds. But that didn't make sense having put me in the ideal weight bracket *shrugs*.

I also, apparently, favour my left side in terms of centre of gravity. Didn't know that.

Well, there is one game where you sit on the balance board and the more still you are, the higher your score. I don't see much value in that. The jogging in place for 20 minutes around the island will give you a good workout. Just a couple of examples.

I have that too. We'll have to become Wii Friends (if you have the internet hooked up for it) and then we can play together.
