Pieminister Pies!

I'm not usually a big pie fan, but their Moo and Blue pie caught my eye in the supermarket just before Christmas. I defrosted and ate it today. OMG. It was the best pie EVER. I was worried the pastry would be dry, but in fact I have never eaten better pastry in my life. And it was charmingly handmade - it was a little wonky, as if it was shrugging a pie shoulder at me to say, "What can you do, eh?"

Oh, Moo and Blue was a steak and stilton pie. Perfectly balanced flavours. I will definitely have another one, and see if the other one in the range appeals to Mum. You see Dad has a pie every week, so I figured if we got one for the same night we could have Pie Night! Mum's not really into Stilton, and I honestly can't remember what the other flavour in Sainsbury's was.

matador pie
free range british beef steak, chorizo, olives, tomato, sherry and butter beans

wildshroom & asparagus pie
wild mushrooms, asparagus, shallots, white wine, and cracked black pepper

heidi pie
goats cheese, sweet potato, spinach, red onion, roasted garlic

charade pie
slow-cooked venison, partridge and pheasant with parsnip, puy lentils and a hint of chocolate and chilli

christingle pie
honey roast parsnips, west country cheddar, chestnuts and white port

Their packaging is really cute too.
I liked the fact that they claim one of the ingredients to be "lovely pastry" for each pie. And they are right to do so! Am off to send them an email to tell them so right now.
