Family Values

Another one bites the... uh, dust.
Quote:
It's no good for a family values Republican to get picked up on a DUI. But substantially worse to get picked up for a DUI after leaving a gay nightclub with an unidentified man in a state vehicle. That's the sorry state that befell California state Senator Roy Ashburn (R-Bakersfield) early Wednesday.

Initial reports only noted the DWI arrest and Ashburn issued a contrite apology on Wednesday. But late this evening, the CBS affiliate in Sacramento reported that "sources" confirmed that Ashburn had left Faces, a gay nightclub in downtown Sacramento, just prior to his arrest.

The state issued black Chevrolet Tahoe Ashburn was driving has been impounded at the state Capitol.
Remember, he's innocent until proven guilty, but it doesn't look good.

Do you ever wonder if the persecution of gays is being carried out single-handedly by self-hating gays-in-denial?

I think that's very probable. Great point!

Now now, give the guy a break. He just didn't want to leave his voters behind.

Well, yeah...that's where the joke comes in.

I debated which way to spell it. I'd hoped the joke would not be lost without the apostrophe.

Do you use the spelling that makes the joke, or the spelling that would be correct if you were making a serious statement? That's the problem with writing jokes that are best made, um...orally.

Like my brother texted me to joke that he was hunkered down in the basement waiting on the tsunami (after Hawaii's promised tsunami never transpired) and I wrote back and asked who the hell is Sue Nami and what does she want from your basement?

Ba-dum-dum

Anyway, glad the joke was gotten, getten, getted, gotted...?

The manager of the night club where anti-gay California state Sen. Roy Ashburn was reportedly hanging out before his 2 a.m. DUI arrest Wednesday tells TPMmuckraker she didn't see him at the club that night.
Doesn't mean he wasn't there another night.

Seems to be a rash of congressional shenanigans lately.

I think they should investigate the Democrat side of the house and senate. It seems an unusually high number of Democrats are dying to avoid the 2010 elections. An epidemic of sudden cancers.
