Yeah, in light of the additional details about the kids, it would actually suck if they lost their house.
The parents sound a little too tightly wrapped. You wonder what is going on inside their heads.

Yeah. It would be easier all round if they were just nasty people we can really hate on sight and the kid was a known toerag.

I get the feeling the parents are hooked on drama; always need to see themselves as heroes. If so it might be driven by severe insecurity.

That thought has been voiced by others and is echoed in some written accounts I've found online. Explains the behaviour, doesn't undo the damage.

Mind you now I feel like the drama queen, it's not even my story to tell, but it's making me so mad and helpless ...it's good to rant, thanks all.
