Mar 23, 2011: Freebasing ad circa 1979
![]() Noticed via Reddit, this vintage ad which seems unusual in even these days, but might have saved Richard Pryor from catching his head on fire. It's weird to imagine there was a time when smoking cocaine practically became an upper-class cultural thing, but I guess that year was about 1979. |

I google mapped that address, corner of 20th and S street. I used to live just a few blocks from there, when I lived in DC. Funny stuff!

Remember iin the old days of records with grooves how sometimes the needle would jump back and repeat a phrase endlessly?
I used to look forward to opening IOTD every morning with certainty of novelty, now that is only a hope. Perhaps if someone would post a tutorial as to how to submit an image, more than just the few will. |

Well in the old days it was only UT posting IoTD.
In the recent old days it was mostly Bruce. Now there are a variety of posters, but as it turns out, it's pretty much a part time job. So if you want better variety, don't be nostalgic, post yourself. I can't give you a tutorial, but if you PM a mod - or UT - they'll break it down for you. Basically check it's not an exclusive image, or get permission. Check it's not already been posted here. Adhere to the standard date format. Don't be NSFW or too controversial. Be good to see what you have DJ. I always admire IoTD posters, because by the time I see anything it's likely a 2 year old meme ![]() |
