It gives up four inches, but it's 10+1 capacity might make it up.

I lived with one; but, only briefly. In the SF qualification course, the ranking students had administrative duties as student leaders. They were issued an M60 regardless of whether they were communications, engineering or medical specialists rather than light or heavy weapons specialists. Others carried the M16.
