VE Day, May 8th, 1945 ended WW II in Europe. This film was made in Berlin only two months later in July. My father was impressed with the chains of women with buckets clearing debris, whereas the French were sitting around waiting for someone else to fix their shit.

Although some sounds were added/present, the silence seems even more poignant.
As someone who remembers the b/w Newsreels of the time, seeing color films is still startling. (Unfortunately, the b/w's that I remember most vividly were those of the Death Camps) |

I'm glad the person filming this is OK. It's cool to see. We are richer because of it.
I would have gotten out of there a hell of a lot faster though. Those power lines going down could have snapped and whipped back at the dude filming, decapitating him. And what if the landslide cut him off up ahead? He can move fast on the road, but he probably can't outrun it through the woods. |

I'm putting these here, rather than the Good Music thread, because it's the videos that are most interesting.
They're both from The Day is My Enemy - the fox is a running theme throughout, as is the eventual conclusion to both videos. But two very different animation styles.

Pretty cool! I can sort of understand how it grabs things that have an irregular shape, but how does it pick up the iPhone by the flat screen without wrapping around the edges?
