I posted a link in "parenting" for a free coloring book from the National archives. It's 16 pages of original patent application drawings, some of which are off the wall, but these two are military. The first is a submarine from 1883 that makes it look pretty simple, although reading about the outcome of those first attempts, says it's not. The second is a landing craft that prove so valuable on D-Day.
