I think the job I would really like is as a professional book reader for books on tape. As long as I got to choose the books.

If I were born 100 years later, I would have like these jobs.

Lunar Hotel Manager.

Running the human powered glider concession on the moon. In 1/8th gravity and with normal air pressure, human powered flight is possible.

Extraterrestrial ambassador.

Asteroid miner.

If I knew then what I know now, I would have gone to the MU School of Journalism 100% paid for by my grandmother so that I would now be a respected and envied author of critical review pieces instead of a fucking corporate drone in the construction business.

Somehow, a well-composed business letter doesn't have the same sense of satisfaction that having your art gallery review published in The New Yorker would.
Show 'em your obits from the Cellar. You're a shoo in.

I've heard it's quite hard to get into so wish me luck.
You know, with the neat handle and the cool and attitude, I'm beginning to wonder if you're really not some 300 pound guy named Norm from Liverpool.

i want to be a paid homemaker. in other words, i want to stay home and cook, clean and do laundry, in addition to daily trips to the gym, studying russian, and playing guitar. i want $200 a week to do what i want with. that's my dream "job".
i would also love to be in a band and get paid to do gigs. it's really hard to find the right people and get it all together...i've kind of given up on that one.
i would also like to work with immigrants, like maybe teaching english as a second language. i am always captivated by foreign people, like the illegal brazilian i almost married, the irish chick i lived with for a summer, the french foreign exchange student i dated as a teenager, the japanese boyfriend i had at age 13, the cape verdian guy i lost my virginity to...? i just have a thing for foreign people, i guess.

I can identify with that, I've never even kissed an Irish girl, all my relationships have been with foreigners.

I saw a film once "Barcelona" that presented an unflattering reason for this perhaps..at the end the two Americans who ended up with spanish girls noted how much better it was when your foreign girlfriend mistook your personal flaws as being part of your national character and was thus much more forgiving of them.

All I can say is that it only works for the first 3-4 years of your relationship and that you've got to try avoid going home or meeting up with others of your nationality

The wierd thing is, despite my political views I could easily work for a highly amoral organisation like the CIA. I don't really get it either. I guess it's simply an extension of my own ability to put my morals on hold if the situation demands it.

I don’t hate my job, but no I’d say that at no point during my childhood did I actually say, “I think I’d like to be an accountant.” You have to do something that pays money so you can afford to do the things you really want to do.

You will notice a relative lack of people who are cowboys, astronauts, police officers, superheroes*, ballerinas, princesses, and garbage men here.
