I agree, I prefer regular aggression but it makes some people cry when you point out they are mildly shitty to people in TV threads, (y'all are lame) and "their" threads (boo-de-hoo quit talking in my thread.) Who needs more rain?

Now, here's an idea for a thread:

NAME HOW MANY KINDS OF IGNEOUS ROCKS YOU KNOW.

Fascinating shit.

NPR is scorching mine. I studiously avoid all discussion of abortion with my Dad but when I drove him to my sister's house Tuesday Morning Edition had to run an abortion story... ranting ensued something about not executing the mentally ill but killing babies... I really tried not to engage.

Your dad thinks the mentally ill should be executed?

Who is he, the governor of Texas?

Apparently, there was a schizophrenic off his meds who pushed someone in front of a train. I think it was an old story with an update. Dad'd be happy in Texas.

"Lots of respectable people have been hit by trains. Judge Hobbie over in Cookville was hit by a train."

Being a good athlete will get you a scholarship. Being a good student will not - unless you are also extremely poor.

Excuse me, but...poppycock!

Explore all your resources, employers, civic organizations...search online (I recommend starting here.)

We get LOTS of third-party scholarship students who excelled academically. You might not HEAR about it as much, due to the aforementioned fascination with athletic prowess, but they're out there. Not all scholarships are just 'given', students can do some legwork and find some pretty nice awards out there.

This has been a public service announcement. Now don't be mad at me!

I got a very generous academic scholarship for my undergraduate degree -- paid all but room & board. And I was not poor.

Be an outstanding student, then pick the right school & pick the right field.

Well it certainly wasn't Z daughter #1's experience. She went through fastweb and a number of other sites. Submitted to dozens of scholarships and came up with nada. She was #10 in her class of 970 something. She did very well on her ACT scores. I dunno.
