Favre retires for the seventeenth time

Well, he has promised to retire seventeen times, anyway. This time, folks, he really means it. Stick a fork in him, he's done!

http://profootballtalk.nbcsports.com...-done-im-done/

There was a comment on this article which is just too good not to point out. In this paragraph:

“I remember the same question, the first part of the year, everyone said, ‘Well, ….’ I said, ‘Time will tell,’ but like I said, I’m done,” Favre said via the Minneapolis Star Tribune. “I’d love to, as I said when I came back I’m here to win a Super Bowl, we had big expecations, it hasn’t gone the way we hoped up to this point, but again, my career speaks for itself. I think it’s been a great career. I don’t know how the remaining games will unfold but that’s it.”

When he says "I" or "my" it has a positive spin but he reverts to "we" when he talks about how badly things have gone. (I came here to win a Super Bowl. It hasn't gone the way we hoped.)

No one cares, Brett Wolfcry. (That's his Native American name. I just made it up.) Go home.

Given the alcohol content of the Elf, that's not difficult. I loves the Elf.

Of course, you were probably drunk when you made the bet. Must be, to think the Cowboys could pull something out of the hole like that. Good thing you're lucky.

HUGE game coming up next week that should pretty much determine which team makes the play-offs.
Indianapolis colts vs Jacksonville Jaguars
If the Jaguars win, they'll be a serious contender for this Superbowl.
I don't see why they can't win this game.
Maurice Jones Drew should be able to run down this (Weak against the run) defense, and keep Peyton watching from the sidelines.
I will be placing quite a bit of money on this game as i'm sure the spread will not be small.

I'd have to go with the Giants in that one as the running game is slowly pick up.
We're both Eagles fans UT, but i do not agree with the way the team is being run at the moment.
There's like this interior battle going on as to what direction the team is going in.
For me, it would be better if they just sacrificed a year or two at the bottom as opposed to trying to win it all with a team that's not capable.
Perhaps since the team is learning around Vick, Cam Newton may be a target in the 2012 draft.

The defense is not really Jim Johnson-quality. But Vick is a unique talent, not only as a running QB but he also throws very very few INTs. The team is averaging .5 INTs per game.

Is Cam Newton really the sure thing he's advertised as? (I haven't seen him play.)

watch the bcs championship and see fot youself.
The answer is YES!
More than you think.
A lot of people would tell you that Vick is the absolute best rushing quarterbacks of all time.
Newton puts Vick to shame.
There is no doubt whatsoever, that Cam Newton, is by far, the best rushing QB of all time....and he hasn't even gotten started yet.

Well the New England Patriots are kicking the crap out of the Chicago Bears at Chicago 36 - o in the 3rd quarter so far. Man it looks like The Patriots will be the team to beat in the ACF this year, and Atlanta in the NFC.

The Patriots making it to the Super bowl is not a given, but so far it looks as if it will be a hard task to beat New England in New England come playoffs...who can beat them? Definately not Jacksonville thats for sure but stranger things have happened ha! I'm thinking a New England Atlanta Super Bowl that would kick ass.

you shouldn't be guided by such games at this point in the season, lol.
True Superbowl contenders are resting their players, avoiding injury, while other teams are calculating their draft picks.

Defense is key, and yeah, you'd have to be fearing the Steelers more than you'd fear the Patriots at this point in time.
Ben is a huge factor, and he's certainly earned my respect.
Being a hater of a team is as blinding as being a fan of a team.
Cheering for or against, is a huge cloud if you want to see things clearly.
Money is my objective.
Huge prices are key in profit.
Example: The Jacksonville Jaguars, when i gave them, paid quite the penny....and right now, they're in a position where a win against the Colts this weekend will see them with 2 feet in the play-offs at home.
I pointed them out last year as a team that was more than capable of making the play-offs, but had chosen to draft(Lose on purpose).
A dominant, high stamina running back complimented by an above par attack and defense are the ingredients needed to win it all.
Quote:
Maurice Jones-Drew is the greatest weapon at running back in the nfl at this point in time. The power and stamina that he has is exactly what is needed to win a superbowl.
He's the kind of tool that keeps Peyton Manning and Tom Brady watching from the sidelines.
He's the kind of guy, that when it comes down to it, can ware a defense like the ravens and Steelers have.
Its a long shot, but if you're a betting man, the price is right and the team is capable.
When you're winning 35/1, 50/1, 67/1, 110/1 bets, you really leave A LOT of room for error.

Being correct on one 110/1 shot is greater gain then being correct on 50 straight 2/1 wins in a row.
Like Jay-z says in "Hard Knock Life" ...i put my money on the long shots.

To find the long shots in N.American sports, it doesn't take much, due to the draft system.
Teams do sacrifice years, even potentially great years for drafting purposes.
I guess you have to be an insider to truly see whats going on within the franchises.
