US Bedding?
Im trying to buy some doona covers from overstock.com (duvet covers?) and the sizes are confusing me....so I thought I would be lazy and ask you guys
I have a queen bed, but I have a king size down doona on it, I was also going to get some bedding for the kids beds. So, a twin (US) is a single (Aus) bed isnt it? A full would be equivalent to an Aus double? so, the smallest of the two person bed? King I am pretty happy with, but I dont understand Cal King or Full Queen? |

I would try to find actual measurements of what you're buying.
Single and twin have always been synonyms for me. However, a single bed in the UK is differently sized than a twin/single in the US. An extra-long twin in the US is differently sized than it's UKian counterpart. Not so sure about the larger sizes though. Here's some tables of sizes. I don't know how reliable they are. http://interiordec.about.com/cs/beds/l/blbedsizes.htm |

What?
I'm still trying to come to terms with the Japanese use of "semi-double". I'm a literal-minded* fellow and I figure half of two is one, so semi-double is just a single, which I now learn from Perry is a twin. Dude ..... wait, what? *anal retentive

"Full Queen" isn't a size of bed. It's an industry label for a piece of bedding, like a duvet, that could fit a Full bed or a Queen bed.
California King is the largest commercial bed available (I think). It's an extra-large king sized bed. Extra long maybe. You'd know if you had one.

all this talk of numbers is completely pointless. the only accurate way to determine the size of the bed in comparison to another is for two bodies to tumble and jumble in a number of beds together. and since no one else seems prepared to help with this particular problem, i'll step up. pick me up at the airport?

Full Queen is a manufacturers way of making bedding too big for a full and too small for a queen. Actually, its supposed to fit a queen, which means it would just be a little large on a full. But most people don't mind the sides of a comforter hanging down further.
I think California King is longer and thinner than a regular King. Oh here's a chart... California King 72" x 84" King 76" x 80" Queen 60" x 80" Full ("double") 53" x 75" Twin 38" x 75" |

Double is not actually twice the size of a single/twin. It's called double because it's for double the people. So I'm guessing a semi-double would be thinner than a twin/single to fit those itsy bitsy Japanese apartments?

Just make sure the corners of the bed aren't farther away than the length of the ropes.
