I love my wife...

...but she sure can be a bitch. She has this anger management issue. Lately everything sets her off. Freaking dog farts and she's ready to euthanize it. Hell, when she's in a good mood the dog hides.

It's not menopause... already been through that. Women only go through it once don't they? God, I hope so.

Phone's out right now because there's construction behind the house. They probably cut the line again. I call and she chews me out.

I'm starting to get used to it. I call the phone company and they tell me it could take five business days. I ask if they can do it in 10.

We're going on vacation next week. Going north.

Drop her off with her mother. That should make her appreciate you better.

She just called and apologized to me. She also mentioned the phone is working again.

I should have known...

Hmmm... nah... she's still a keeper.

Going to Mt. Rushmore. Had to make reservations rather quickly. Apparently there's a Christian festival going on about the time we are going to be there.

Maybe the Rapture will hit and the only people that will be left in the world will be all the evil ones... and this forum.

Here's a radical idea: Have you talked to her about what's bothering her? Do you (or her) need to make some changes in your life? Is it stress about money/job/children etc.? or what?

What! And risk opening another can of worms?

Pills, my forum friend... pills solve everything!

If you really want to know whats happening I'll open up a bit...

Her mother's in the hospital. COPD, heart failure (they go hand in hand). Don't worry, I've been nice to my wife. Understanding too.

Her mom's not in good condition, hasn't been for quite some time. But, the old gal has quite some constitution about her. The Doc said that if a normal person had that much CO2 in their body they'd be dead.

My wife has been looking forward to this little vacation for quite some time. With her mom in the hospital, and the possibility of having to cancel plans - that was a bit too much.

Which, for me... instead of venting to her and causing a lot of unecessary emotional trauma, I figured I'd pop in here and make a post to vent a little myself. With the lighthearted personal therapy I'd get here it would cool my heels rather quickly so I could press on with plans.

Thanks for the advice though Cloud. I know you meant well and it would have been received with an open mind.

ah well-what do I know about health spousal relationships? Not a whole lot.

So, glad we could be good listeners for you.

I would've trusted your judgement.

Thanks.

*sad smile* copd is what took my Dad. He saw more Christmases than the doctors ever dreamed he might. Went from critical care to up and about to critical care again with frightening rapidity. In the end it took the disease almost four years to kill him. The last two of which were extremely difficult. He took it to the bitter end. I wish his heart had given out so that he didn't have to die in such a way. Your gal has a tough time ahead of her, friend. My heart goes out to her. It's a terrifying thing to witness.

My apologies for this bleak response. It is still raw. There is hope though, that heart failure will spare her mum the worst of it. My friend's husband had copd and never made it to the terrible end game. It's a bitter brand of hope I know. But it is hope of a kind.

Probably not the response you were looking for. But know that there is somebody here who knows to some extent what your wife is going through. And how difficult it must be for you to see her pain. From hereonin I'll keep any responses less bleak, more supportive.

Fuck COPD. Fuck it hard.

She's having a tough time of it. Her mother isn't quite in the advance stage of COPD but, she's not that far off.

We did manage to take our vacation - had a great time too! It took her mind off things that were bothering her. She opened up while we were traveling (that was a good thing). She felt a lot better - so did I because I wasn't one of the things that was bothering her . But, we traveled a lot, visited a lot, saw Mount Rushmore, got a bunch of souvenirs for the family... just had a great time.

Thanks for your support Dana.
