Anything but cool. My PC is in a back bedroom of a stone house, and I hear them coming, stop at the stop sign (sometimes), and pull away... without my hearing aids.
Oh, and they're all playing the same song.

Not a factor in my life since we left Coatesville. We lived on a corner with a stop sign there...

This poll was inspired by the passage of such a travesty a few minutes ago. The street is at least 70' from where I'm sitting, and there are two walls between us and it. The TV is on at a moderately low volume, the furnace is running, and I *felt* it before I *heard* it.
Odds are that the stereo cost more than the car it was in. I like bass as much as the next guy (probably a hell of a lot more than the next guy, actually), but after years of consideration of this topic, I have come to the conclusion that this crap is nothing more than the audio version of garden gate sized bling pendants, something to shout "Hey, look at me! Ain't I sumpin'?!!" for people who will never, ever have anything substantive to cause the world to give a shit about their existence. It's sad...and annoying. My, but I'm in a mood, ain't I?

Well, at least you can console yourself with the thought that THEY will be wearing hearing aids before they are 30.

Happens right here every day. Rattles my windows more than the freight train in my backyard. Makes my dogs howl too, I can tell you. But so do sirens and train horns (sometimes). Maybe the dogs can't tell the difference either?

It's amusing when their POS cars rattle and buzz. You can almost hear all the fasteners working their way loose with each beat. We're in the middle of the block, and there's one guy that drives by. You can hear him coming and going, but he doesn't stop nearby, so it's fine. As they go deaf, they will just turn it up louder.

Can't say if they're gang members or not. Especially in this small city of 100k I live in. We have our problems here, but the vibrating trucks and rear windows are usually isolated to city road vs the residential areas.
I, personally, am not a hugh fan of this ridiculously loud head-banging rap, acid rock, whatever type of music (I use that term loosely) that you hear at the stop light or that which vibrates the outer wall of your home when one happens to drive by. When I was a teenager I suffered a little hearing damage by sitting to close to a huge speaker at a Who Concert - but the base was so awesome that risking total deafness was secondary. Brain damage wasn't even in the equation. Besides, the girl I was with had a blouse and exposed cleavage a young man of my age could only dream of and I was planning on tapping into a whole new reality later on. Anyway... I find it more humorous than I do irritating. Especially when they have more metal on their face than what you can find in a junk yard. I once envisioned what would happen if I tossed one of those manufactured magnets from a PC hard drive at them - would it cave in their face or send them into a concusion induced coma? The best one I ever saw and heard was the vibrating candy apple green Ford Pinto with an African American at the helm - he was jamming to some Eagles tunes and had on a pair of Elton John specs. I had to give him a thumbs up. |

I guess I drive different roads than they do... or maybe I can't hear them over my radio....
