How wealthy conservative republicans can attain their goal

Wealthy conservative republicans are against government social programs and Obamacare. Here's how they can virtually eliminate those things.

Hire everyone who is able to work. Make the job requirements and compensation so desirable that people will choose work over welfare. Pay people well. Make healthcare coverage part of their compensation. Ensure that employees have a good pension, and make sure the pension is funded.

If "job creators" did these things, the only government payments would go to people who are truly unable to work. There would be no need for welfare, social security, medicare, medicaid, etc.

When my dad worked for a national company-that's how it worked. They paid well, they had great benes, they even had a private park complete with a river you could canoe in and a swimming pool, picnic grounds, every christmas they'd have movies on the big screen for the kiddies and give out stockings full of candy at the end. Ah, THOSE were the days. it was also the 1960's.

Once upon a time in the Southern Tier of New York, George F. Johnson helped build houses, parks, and churches for his employees. As a kid, I got to use the IBM Country Club facilities because my Dad had a very low level job at IBM. They don't make capitalists like that any more.

That used to be, but now they've found out they can attain their goals another way. Make a big show of trying to buy the national election, and when they lose, everyone breaths a sigh of relief and goes about their business.
Then they get down to the serious business of off-year elections, when most people aren't paying much attention, and only a small percentage actually vote. By buying governors and state congressmen, they've been successfully taking control of the country, one state at a time. Arizona, Indiana, Michigan, the beat goes on.

Japan had a similar corporate system for decades. It works well in the areas of job security, benefits, etc. It seems to go with a very rigid social structure, though, one in which the company is essentially the benign overlord that takes care of the serfs. I think North American society in the '50s and '60s was similar - I know many of the big resource companies in Canada were that way. They owned entire towns, the schools, etc., and provided generously for their employees. However, they were also free to do whatever they wanted in terms of destroying the environment. And when they ultimately decided to close shop they left ghost towns and ruined lakes, rivers, and forests.

I don't know that that will ever again be a viable paradigm. I think people are too mobile now, for one thing; the corporations also had carte blanche, worse than what they have today, to wreak environmental destruction. Wealthy Democrats, Liberals, and NDP, of whom there are many, are as much to blame in all of this history as Republicans and Conservatives (and all the rest of the Canadian parties).
