5/2/2003: Eight-day-old ape
![]() Happy Friday. The official caption says this is an 8-day-old Makaki ape, buried in its mom's fur at the Eberswalde Zoo. In English there is no such species listed so it must be a German species name. Even the most hardened amongst us has to look at that and go "awwwwww!" |

That is one of the cutest things I've ever seen. He looks so warm and comfortable. I know I'd join him

Is there a zoomed-out version of this pic? It would be nice to see the mother too, to get some idea of how big this little kid is.

Actualy i don't find it that cute. It looks like it's trying to escape so it can get out and claw your eyes out.
Kind of like that gremlin on the simpsons. <img src="http://mason.gmu.edu/~scress/gremlin.jpg"> |

At my first reaction, I thought that the ape was drowning in quicksand or something. That first immediate reaction ruined the possibility of any subsequent "Awww, how cute" reactions.

The first thing i thought of was Quato from Total Recall.
![]() Doesn't have the same whimsy as the original pic does it? |
