Lucille?
Need some help here.
I'm a fan of small venue clubs. At Lupos Heartbreak Hotel, here in Providence, RI - I passed on Joan Osborne (bad decision), but I hit the motherload with Porcupine Tree (great choice). So there's this player, who actually named his guitar "Lucille". Could he be pretty good? Should I take a chance and check him out? ![]()

No "smacking" necessary, I'll be there. I just wanted to know who knew about Lucille. Didn't take long, did it?

Years ago in Memphis i used to go to a place called Solomin Alfreds (underage ) and i saw lots of then un knowns like George Therogood , Chrissy Hine and the Pretenders and quite a few i don' t rember .
I also used to go to Beal street befor it was safe for a white boy to be there on his own. The bouncers would let me in to the clubs just to get me off the street ( so i wouldn't end up on a slab in the morgue , and the club would be in the news paper for ANOTHER killing ) . I saw some KILLLLLER old bluesmen !!!!! The watreses got to know me after a while and would let me stach my bicycle in the kitchens . KILLER ribs , cold beer , and EXELENT Tunes ![]() ![]()

Probably a few years earlier, I used to go to the Boston Tea Party, in …………..(doh!)
Richie Havens, J-Plane, & Ultimate Spinach. I’d say more, if I could recall it. ![]()

John Lee Hooker , Any thing , just any thing at all !! Howlin Wolf , same same . Mudy waters , same . I like original tunes , covers are ok , some times better that the original . One of the most bestest of ALL times album sets it "may the circle be un broken " by the nitygrity dirt band and various bluegrass folks , Alot of old dudes trying to educate young folks on what good music is supposed to be . ![]()

I got to see John Lee Hooker back in the day. That was cool.
Favorite tune: Tough call how about- The Sky is Crying SRV Favorite album: Live at the Regal BB There is a guy named Phil Petroff from Syracuse who is about the best unknown player/singer I ever ran into. One of the regular Cellaristas is married to a pretty fine professional blues guitarist. He is smooooooth. |

Kim Wilson is out touring too, with a swell young guitarist, Jeremy Johnson.
As a female I enjoy when one of my own can tear it up like Sue Foley up in Ottawa. Yeah, yeah. Hey KC, I love the Grand Emporium. They still booking good shows there? Not strickly blues, but rooted... I'll never miss a chance to see the Paladins or the Belairs tear it up. |
