Stepford Wives

Went to go see it last night. Holy Christ what a silly movie. Is the original really that good? Because the new one is a farce. And I mean that in a sorta nice way--it was funny. But I get the impression the original wasn't supposed to be, and this one comes off as a total spoof. Didn't help that everything but the last ten minutes is shown in the previews.

The original was unintentionally slightly campy but also pretty creepy. The sequel was pure B-movie although the ending was pretty interesting.

The original was off-color, creepy, and much more timely than the new one appears to be. It was a serious film.

After I see the new one, I'll be more sure.

I tried to go see it on Saturday, after the Gun Show. I was thwarted yet again in my desire to see a movie by a massive fault of some kind at the King of Prussia UA Theater.

I drove in to see about 1000 people standing in front of the building, and had to get the hell out of the way of several large firetrucks.

They never unrolled hose, but a nice older couple who were eating popcorn watching the festivities said that there was an announcement that there was an "emergency" (unspecified) and everybody had to leave the building.

They were pissed off because they had already purchased their tickets.

My friends and I cut our losses and just went home at that point.
