King Kong trailer...
...has me in a highly anticipatory state.
http://www.apple.com/trailers/universal/king_kong/ Peter Jackson just may strike again.

I'm going to go see this but only because Jack Black is in it and he's hott.

He's cuddly, funny, creative, funny, probably smart(er) than the usual movie star and did I mention cuddly and funny?

I don't care how good the trailer looks. Does this movie really need another remake?

Does it need it? No.
But can it be done better than the last one? Probably.

but why? WHY!?!?!! you know there a a bazillion well though out well written scripts out there.. why in the hell do we need another freakin' re-make of another movie?!??! I mean, cool.. great and all.. I like neato special effects more than the next guy (my neighbor anyway) but... but... I mean what's next? a re-make of citizen cane? it doesn't need to be done. no. I'll go one step further.. it shouldn't be done. sacrificing creativity for the banal re-creation of something that was perfectly fine in the first place, what's wrong with appreciating something for what it is? (and no. I'm not a fan of fake tit's either).. *sigh* I am getting old.

I see your point but it will probably be better than the 14 Terrorists bomb London movies coming.
Oh, and fakes are better than none. ![]()

It's even more interesting when you watch it in German. Bringen Sie mich die Fuhrer!

Because crap has a proven track record. People go to see crap in droves. Well thought out, well plotted, and well-acted films are relegated to "independent" status, play in a handful of theaters and, if lucky, get "rediscovered" on HBO.

I really want to see this crap though. I'm with Bri on JB... in a hetero male simple admiration kinda way. The effects should be outstanding and I want to see one Kong Flick made in my life time that doesn't completely suck ass.

The guy who wrote that script was a screenwriting professor of mine in college. He wrote it 10 years before it was finally made. Same with The Iron Giant, another of his. They floated around, and everyone generally agreed, "Oh yeah, this is great, someone should pick this up," but no one ever did. He told us this could be very slightly attributed to production companies being honest with themselves--if their strength was Rob Schneider movies, they knew they wouldn't be able to make a good script "right," and that would be a waste. But he said it was mostly because if it weren't made "great," it would just be another art house flick, which don't make any money. He said the reason most great movies actually get made is a star actor brings it to the production company and says, "I want to be in this movie." |

No, I thought it *was* a great movie. And I *do* understand why there's so much crap out there. I'm just not convinced that there is a plethora of terrific, unrealized scripts in the world, because otherwise talented people are turning out volumes of crap because that's what people go see.
