What are the odds?
Thursday: Our director of PR, CFO, and some other people meet with the local convention & visitors bureau to talk about promoting a new building as a conference center. One recommendation: Have a separate marketing presence for the conference center as opposed to the rest of the institution.
The following Wednesday: I'm sitting in a meeting where I hear this repeated. I think, "Oh, we should get a domain for email addresses and maybe a web site." When the meeting breaks I speak to the PR director (who was also there) and we decide to go for somethingorother.com and .org. I go back to my office and go to register the domains. .org is available. .com is already taken. It was created on Monday. Hmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm. |
