That's one reason I'm getting him, Tonchi! I expect him to broaden my circle of aquaintances considerably! And I actually ran into a friend that I'd lost touch with and hadn't seen for a couple years last night. She was out and about with her SO and the SO's buddy who is currently unattached, so things are beginning to look up, already!

Is there anyone left in your group of friends that knows someone? I was one of those socially retarded computer people previous mentioned and was resigned to being single for the rest of my life. I figured being 34 and never having a significant relationship pretty much marked me as a pariah for the rest of my life. Then my sister asked me to come to a happy hour to meet someone. I usually flat out refused to do things like that, it always made me so uncomfortable. However, this time I said yes. I ended up meeting a great woman, 2 months later started living with her, 5 months later got engaged, 1 year later we were married. We're about to have our 1 year and it's the best thing I ever did. I'm super happy.
So, I know I may have just been lucky, but it seems that informal matchmaking from friends/family can work. They'll weed out the super crazies and certainly aren't out to put you in a bad spot. Just my .02 |
