I suggest reading The Ancient Art of Stoic Joy.
Among many other topics, it talks about setting the right goals and having the right success criteria. To steal Cloud's words, things like winning and competition aren't opposed in any way to thoughtfulness, compassion, self-realization and that sort of thing. You can value them all. I'd go so far as to say you should. |
